Denny Thompson Field Trips are held the second Saturday of the month and ably led by Dennis Thompson. Beginners are very welcome and this is a great way to improve your birding skills by joining in a wide range of birders.

Bob Cecil helps some pelican watchers The Des Moines Christmas Bird Count is held during the national count period each year. Watch the calendar for this year's date and details.

Many volunteers from Des Moines Audubon help each fall to provide a quality outdoor experience to families at the Jester Park Pelican Festival. In the true tradition of "No Child Left Inside", the pure enjoyment of helping young people see a pelican through the scope or watching a reaction to a live hawk up close and personal is one of the annual highlights for many of our members.
